Today's Tasks:Order your Thriving in Motherhood Planner if you haven't yet and have been meaning too (this will make creating and using your vision and goals as easy as possible, but if you already have a system that works for you that is great too!)https://thrivinginmotherhoodpodcast.com/2021-planner-sales/ 2. If you've purchased the planner, claim the bonus Create your Vision for 2021 Course. We will be using this course during the challenge. You can still participate without it, but this again will make it as simple and easy as possible to complete.https://thrivinginmotherhoodpodcast.com/claim-your-bonus 3. Look over the schedule (next post) to get an idea of what this challenge will look like. A few thoughts: you CANNOT GET BEHIND! You are still welcome to work faster or slower or skip things entirely. Any bit that you do complete will make an impact on your life for the better. Don't get stuck in all or nothing thinking. 4. Introduce yourself and engage with others in the group (another follow up post). This is a social challenge and will be more fun when comment and get to know each other and support each other in doing this essential work of creating our visions. I'm excited to do this with you!!

Step Two: A Peak into My Brain Dump!

Before we can do long term thinking or even let our brains go down new paths with the vision exercises, we need to empty out what is already there. If you have a Thriving in Motherhood Planner already there is plenty of space to do it there. Otherwise grab a notebook or piece of paper and get everything in your brain into a safe space outside your head. For me I'll be brain dumping about:-Christmas presents and festivities for December (in my think and process pages of my 2020 planner)-Things that are already in my brain about 2021 (in my Imagine the possibilities pages of my 2021 planner OR Preparing for 2021 pages of the 2020 planner)-Resources (books, youtube channels, and courses) I already know I want to review to inform my vision for 2021

Step 3: Reflect and Review

1 Lesson

Premium course

Have you ever caught yourself thinking about things that happened previously in your life and carried it around as a weight or a reason why things are the way they are now? If we don't take time to pause and reflect about the previous year and what we wished would have happened it can be difficult to move forward with confidence (I'm talking about disappointments, not trauma - please get help if you need it!). So today's task is: Think (and journal for bonus points and effectiveness) about what you hoped would have happened in 2020.Write out what actually happened in 2020 (on your Remembering 2020 page in your Thriving in Motherhood Planner). I like to record "Things I learned" "Milestones" "Major Challenges" "Projects Accomplished" "Books I read" "Traditions we Started" "Parenting Wins" - you choose or create what makes most sense for your life. If you have the bonus audio course, listen to the Reflect and Review lesson. We will use these lists in Step 4.

Now that we've done some initial assessment of the last year, we are going to dig a little deeper into our reflection. Today's Task:-Answer the questions in your planner on Reflecting on 2020 pages (I recommend listening to the bonus audio course to help guide you through it). -If you don't have the planner, here are some prompts to get you started: *If the last year were a movie of your life, what would the genre be? What would the title be?*What were the two or three major themes that kept recurring?*What did you accomplish this past year that you are the most proud of?*What do you feel you should have been acknowledge for but weren't?*What regrets did you have this past year?

Step 5: Personal Life Assessment

1 Lesson

Premium course

One of my defining moments in motherhood was realizing there was more to my life other than being a parent, a wife, and a household manager. There are (at least) 10 different life domains that apply to each of us: Intellectual, Emotional, Physical, Marital, Parental, Social, Avocational, Vocational, Financial, and Spiritual. To help give guidance on what would be good goals or habits to develop and expand our view of what our vision could include this year, take the personal life assessment in your planner by giving yourself a score from 1 to 10 in each of these life domains. The point of this step is AWARENESS. We are not going to be a 10 out of 10 in each domain, and that isn't what we are aiming for either. Be honest with yourself and look for the good. On the next page write what you could do to improve in each area (not a commitment, again just exploring possibilities). Listen to the Personal Life Assessment track on the bonus audio course for more coaching through this exercise.

Step 6: Establish Your Foundation

1 Lesson

Premium course

We are going to spend some time thinking about what YOU want, so that you can have an accurate measuring stick to use as you navigate this next year. Today answer these questions found on the Establishing Your Foundation page in the planner: -What Brings Joy and Meaning to my Life?-What Truly Matters Most to Me?-Pick Three Words that Describe Who You Want to Be Each Day? Listen to the audio file in your bonus course for more coaching through each question!

Step 7: Fill Your Bucket

1 Lesson

Premium course

Brainstorm a list of things that "fill your bucket" or help you feel rejuvenated. These might be things you haven't done in a long time or you might already have it worked into your routine. If you are feeling stuck, keep this page or paper open for the next few weeks and anytime something comes up write it down. This will be something you can reference throughout the year when things get busy or you start to feel lost in the busyness of life.

Step 8: Cultivate Your Talents

4 Lessons

Premium course

I know there are SO MANY of these, but this has been my favorite and was very insightful. Things that I thought were a weakness that I needed to change are actually just part of my personality. Things that I thought everyone can do are actually unique parts of me.What do you learn about yourself after taking this? What is something you would consider cultivating this year? https://www.16personalities.com/

https://high5test.com/I highly recommend taking this assessment and seeing what your top five strengths are. How can you apply these strengths to your different roles and responsibilities? How could you cultivate and lean into these this year?

Text lesson

We each have individual gifts, talents, and skills. It is important that you don't stop recognizing and developing your unique gifts and talents, especially as a mom. Write out the gifts and talents you see in yourself AND ask people who know you well what gifts and talents they see in you. After you have your list, which ones do you feel the strongest pull to cultivate right now?

Believe You Are a Creator

2 Lessons

Premium course

Goals are a vehicle to get us where we want to go (so is the Thriving in Motherhood Planner!). Before we start filling up our life with habits, routines, projects, and milestones to reach let's take a moment to determine the destination. This is where being a creator is so vital. This is why we needed to review the past year and create a blank canvas for the future. So grab your planner or a piece of paper and write out where you picture yourself 5 years from now.Once you have a destination in mind, brainstorm what skills or goals would get you closer to this dream? What would be fun or enjoyable for you to work on this year? What would you need to start doing? Stop doing? Do more of? Do Less of?

Face Your Fears

3 Lessons

Premium course

Once you have your list of fears/doubts/what's holding you back, now think about what you life will be like one year from now when you lived life beyond the fear? What does it look like? What will you have accomplished? What becomes possible for you when you let go of the fear?

Text lesson

Premium course

"How do you you still find motivation to work on the goals for your vision when it feels very unrealistic at the time?"

Video lesson

Premium course

As you think about this upcoming year and some of the things you've been dreaming about for your life, what fears come up for you? What about doubts? Where are you feeling resistance? Where is mom guilt creeping in? It takes some time to be aware of what's holding you back. Keep track of your thoughts and see if you can capture what's happening in your mind. Until we know what our brains are telling us about our goals, dreams, and plans it is challenging to capture why things are hard or why we haven't just done something before.

After you've reviewed your thoughts and what is resonating with you, it's time to pick your word for 2021! Here is how I like to go about it:Brainstorm a few words that seem to fit the general theme or focus that is shaping up for my year.Look up the definitions of the words, relevant scriptures, and origins.See if any new words have emerged that bring things into greater focus or clarity and work through the scriptures and definitions again.Select my word for the year!
